“Seagulls and dinghies on the Kaipara Harbour were the inspiration for this design.”

The client requested a design that reflects the rural surroundings, so we took our inspiration from seagulls and dinghies on the Kaipara Harbour. The basic building design was simple, and therefore compatible with the tight budget, leaving money to be spent on the evocative verandas. These verandas provide much needed shade from the north sun in summer, but allow the winter sun to penetrate and warm the classrooms.

Our work in the education sector brings contemporary character and beauty to school environments. At the opening of a new administration block for Elm Park Primary School, the Prime Minister commented on our ‘cutting edge design’. The projects we work on for schools also demonstrate our practicality, because spaces are both efficient and versatile.
