Elim Community Centre Coromandel

“A church and community centre in historic Coromandel.”

We were commissioned to design a 500-seat auditorium with a large foyer and breakout space, a café, a crèche, an administration and reception area, and a large kitchen to service every kind of occasion. For the Coromandel township, it was important to acknowledge the history of the area and integrate it into the design. We attended and presented the successful resource consent application at the council, and have produced working drawings.

We are one of the few architectural practices in New Zealand that has an extensive track record of over forty years with ecclesiastical architecture. Whether you want to improve an existing structure or build a new structure, talk to us about the needs of your church. Our work extends to buildings that do dual duty so that church organisations can gain income from their premises.

Wayne Houston wrote his degree thesis on church design and understands the variety of needs each church building requires.
